Troop 16 is a very active Troop and we plan monthly camp outs or other adventures throughout the year. These can include camping under the stars on St. George Island and our local State Parks, canoeing the Suwannee and Blackwater Rivers, hiking and backpacking in FDR State Park and Providence Canyon in Georgia, and tubing on the Ichetucknee and Chipola Rivers.
For example, for our 2024-25 Scout year, we canoed and camped on the banks of the Suwannee River, attended the Scout Weekend at the Talladega Motor Speedway, backpacked the Pine Mountain Trail at FDR State Park, visited FDR's Little White House in Warm Springs, rafted on the Ocoee and Nantahala Rivers, and climbed at Alchemy Climbing in Tallahassee.
There is always an exciting monthly activity at Troop 16.
Summer and Winter Camp provide lifelong memories for our Scouts, where they can work on advancement and fun merit badges, as well hang out and have fun with their Scouting friends. These camps provide the experiences and stories that last forever.
Troop 16 is well known for its high adventure program and participates in a high adventure program every year. These can include sailing in the Keys at Florida Sea Base, canoeing in the Boundary Waters of Minnesota, backpacking in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in northern New Mexico, backpacking on Appalachian Trail in Georgia and North Carolina, or ziplining across a former coal mine in West Virginia.
There is always high adventure here at Troop 16.
